CONTACT
Sawbridgeworth Cricket Club team
1st XI
Captain :
Joe Holland
Joe makes a welcome return to Town Fields following a spell of eight seasons at Saffron Walden. Has been appointed first team skipper for 2010.
Vice Captain :
Ryan Cunningham
The big man of the side. Left handed spinner who took the most wickets in the league in 2005, 2006 and 2008, and prior to that played first class cricket for Jamaica. Has the ability to score big runs quickly. Ryan is one of the qualified Level 2 coaches at the club and is Vice Captain for 2010.
Players
Steve Ashman
Talented opening batsman who cemented his place in the 1st team as opening batsman last seaon. Should be looking to improve his league average of 17 this season if he applies himself. A true teenager who rarely emits more than the odd grunt, Steve likes a drink.
Michael Burrell
Legendary Sawbo allrounder who scores runs quickly and bowls medium/fast. He has a great sense of humour and always has a joke or two! One for the ladies due to his length, we must say that Buzza is the local celeb!
Dean Chisnall
Younger brother of Craig who has joined the club for the 2009 season. Hard-hitting top-order batsman and is a "talented West End actor" (so says his unofficial website).
Joe Hurst
Hursty joined Sawbo from Hoddy and has been appointed as Birchy's deputy again this season. He is a medium pace bowler who gives 100% to every game and there is no such thing as a friendly with this man, he'll rip ya throat out even on a Sunday!! He has a good taste in hip-hop, likes to travel and loves a wedding....where there's a wedding, there'll be Hursty and Brownie. Oh yeah, he's spanish.....apparently!
Paul James
Paul "Two Darts" James is a old-fashioned swing bowler and when he gets right can be very difficult to face. It was these banana-balls which helped Paul win 2nd XI player of the year in 2005 and 2006. Reasonably quiet off the field, just goes about his business and is always around for a drink and chat. The best darts player in the club, hence his new nickname!
Kieran Morgan
An off-spinner and one of those weird people who bats left handed but bowls right handed, Kieran has a variety of deliveries including a quicker round arm ball. Not bad with the bat either - scored a magnificent 50 against St Margaretsbury in 2005.
Rumoured to be 600 years old.
C.E.O of P.A.M Bats Ltd.
Joe Rudkin
Rudders had an improved 2008 season, scoring his maiden 1st team league 50 and cementing his place in the side.
James Runciman
Joined from Chingford for 2008 season, "Runci" is an aggressive top-order batsman and offspin bowler. Has played at the top-level for many years and adds experience to the side.
Rob Sanders
Richard M White
First XI scorer since 1984, becoming fixture secretary in 1990. Scored 1,000th game in 2004 and became a life member that year. Best game ever: Becker Transport Cup final win v Radlett, 31/8/03.
Danny Wilson
Proud to represent P.A.M bats ltd, without them would never have compiled the 698 runs accrued in 2006. Had a fantastic season with the bat in 2007, despite the rain. First team skipper and qualified coach who likes cooking, especially up mountains.
Now no more than an occasional bowler, as am becoming cynical about the amount of effort involved for limited reward! Still swing it around corners though...
